    Des Bishop – Mia Mamma

  • February 14 & 15, Westport Town Hall Theatre
Comedian Des Bishop is bringing his latest stand-up show ‘Mia Mama’ to Westport for two nights, Friday and Saturday, February 14 and 15. The show is inspired by the ‘star’ of Bishop’s life – his mother, who died in March 2019. Bishop puts a comic spin on loss, grief and the chaos that surrounds it. “It’s a show about motherhood and sacrifice, anxiety and grief, the mistakes you make as a mother and a son and the hard road to forgiveness and finally it’s about loss, grief and the chaos that surrounds it,” he says. “Also I did a show about my Dad being sick back in 2010 and I couldn’t face my mother in the afterlife because I know her first question would be ‘Your Father got a show, how come I didn’t get one?’.”https://www.destinationwestport.com/event/des-bishop-mia-mamma

    Westportif 2020

  • The hugely popular annual Westportif cycling challenge has two new and different routes on offer this year – 80km and 150km. Both routes start and finish in Westport and take in the spectacular scenery of Clew Bay and the Doolough Valley. Cyclists on the 150km route will see the splendour of Lough Mask and Tourmakeady as well. Both routes are well managed and marshalled, while shorter route is an ideal distance for less experienced cyclists. A well-deserved break for refreshments at the half-way stage make it even more accessible to newcomers to the sport. The Westportif is run by two local cycling clubs, Westport Covey Wheelers Cycling Club and Western Lakes Cycling Club. As well as raising funds for the clubs, it is also a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish charity.https://www.westportif.ie/
